It’s a classic problem – you have a recipe that calls for a tablespoon or two of tomato paste, which leaves you wondering what you’re supposed to do with the rest of the can. Don’t throw it away! And don’t put it in the fridge, unless you know you’ll use it soon. Otherwise, that tiny little can will find it’s way to the back and form a lovely layer of mold rendering the leftovers completely unusable.
Instead, scoop out the rest of the tomato paste into a plastic storage container (or a glass dish covered in plastic wrap) and put that in your freezer. Next time time you need tomato paste, you can microwave it to quickly thaw it, use what you need, and throw any remaining paste back into the freezer again!
